As a student, you probably take and turn in an exam – and then what? Do you give the same quick goodbye you gave after the last three exams, and leave class as if you’ll see the instructor again on Monday? Or do you spring for a handshake, and a longer “pleasure to be in your class” goodbye? Or maybe you just slip out as quietly as possible and avoid the whole issue!
As an instructor, you actually have similar options. (Maybe I should keep reading my book and pretend that I didn’t see that student turn in an exam…)
Well, I appreciated that a few of my students shook my hand and said they enjoyed the class. I don’t think I ever did that as a student. Oops.
